We’ve all wanted to work from home at one point or another, but how many times have we heard about a scam or two?  I have researched and come up with some ways that you can earn legitimate cash even if you don’t have time for the second job that requires specific hours such as 9-5pm.

Here are some ideas that can help you earn extra cash without punching in and out for someone else.

  1. Get paid using your Phone

There are several applications that you download on your phone that ask you to take a picture of something and turn it in. Here are some that I actually tried.

  • Gigwalk- This app wants you to take pictures answer some questions and get paid. I was asked to take a picture of a menu board of a new restaurant. I would earn 8.00 from taking pictures during lunch time and emailing the pictures in.
  • CheckPoints- “The app that pays you back” Here you check into stores, scan products, or watch videos and more and get paid.
  • Zap Surveys-Take surveys and earn money.

  1. Complete jobs on websites in your profession such as clerical, cleaning, odd Jobs.

Here are two websites that connect those offering random services (like walking a dog, being a personal assistant for a day, giving guitar lessons, etc.) with buyers who are looking for those services. Of course there are many others that are well known such as Angie’s List and so forth but these are new sites that have just started operating.

  1. Become a tutor teaching languages or school subjects such as Math/Algebra

In many areas English speakers are in high demand. As a result many are turning to freelance English teachers using websites like Italki.com. The site is basically a virtual online classroom for freelance teachers and students. Anyone can offer lessons (and set their own price), and anyone can take lessons.

Try sites such as Wyzantt.com who let the tutor set their own prices and specialize in Math and Algebra if you are a Math wizard. I know I needed a tutor when it came to my College Algebra class and it was almost impossible to find a local one with just word of mouth. This site allows you to select by gender, credentials, and pay scale.

  1. Are you creative?

If so get crafty and make something you are passionate about and sell it at craft shows and flea markets. It may cost a little upfront money to rent a space , but make sure you price items taking into consideration about the materials and time it has taken you to make the item. I know plenty of people that make wooden items, or plaques with “smart sayings”, homemade baby blankets and so forth that sell out at every craft fair they attend.

  1. 5. Consider Extreme Couponing?

Have you seen the shows where the people collect so many coupons that the stores actually end up paying them money at the checkout? Well I have seen people at craft shows selling these new shampoos and conditioners, deodorants and anything that you see that can be stored at almost give away prices. It was free to them and now they have just made a profit by spending a little time organizing and couponing. Of course this only works if you have an area to stockpile items like a mini warehouse or closet designated just to this cause.

auto6. Do you own your own car?

Try driving in your spare time for Lyft or Uber. You just need to sign up showing your proof of insurance and type of car and you are on your way after a short records check. Then when you are ready to drive, you sign in and you are “Live” to take a ride. The company lets you know where and when to pick someone off and where you will be driving them to.

A new site that has just popped up is relayrides, which allows you to rent your car to someone. This has become popular in larger cities.
